Richard Metzger has a wonderful post on one of my all time faves, The Psychedelic Furs. The Furs first two albums are post punk perfection and Richard Butler HAS to be on the top five list of all time great singers.
After “Forever Now” they blew it, but they left their old sound with stye recording ”Love My Way”, which is one of the greatest pop songs ever made. And while “The Ghost In You” production represents everything that’s wrong with the 80’s, the melody is so damn beautiful. So yeah, even their later work contains hidden gems.
But it’s the firt albums where the Furs shine, creating a driving mess that was made from the scraps of 70’s pop. Crank up “Flowers” and feel the greatness!

Iowahawk’s yearly contest is on! Here’s the grand winner!
“The trill of robins and the roar of 2-stroke lawn mowers herald the return of my favorite blogular tradition: yes, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the 7th Annual Iowahawk Earth Week Cruise-In where together we celebrate Mother Earth - the Ultimate MILF®! Over the next 7 days I will once again be highlighting my readers’ impeccable taste in vehicles and insatiable thirst for fossil fuels. Over the years I have proudly raised awareness that, when it comes to providing life-sustaining carbon to our planet’s trees, nobody makes Iowahawk readers ride shotgun. “
